Join the Swan Hill Regional Library for Loud @ the Library on Friday, 28 March, from 7pm.

Don't miss the rare opportunity to see our talented youth perform all in one place for free! With complimentary pizza and soft drinks on offer, this is an evening not to be missed.

Swan Hill Regional Libraries Manager, Camille Cullinan, explained that this event has been running since 2011 and has truly made a positive impact in the lives of many local youths.

“We’re thrilled that this event has contributed in some way to launching some amazing careers."

A shining example is William Alexander. William made his singing debut at Loud @ the Library, where his stunning voice lifted the audience and set him on the path to a successful music career.

“Sophie Kelly was discovered by Triple J’s Unearthed. Emma Kelly recently played Adelaide in the hit musical Guys and Dolls with the Bendigo Theatre Company. Lachie Dunn is now a member of the Melbourne-based band Among the Restless, who were nominated for the Amplify Award at the 2024 Music Victoria Awards.

“Other local performers who’ve pursued their passion include Shannon Bishop, Callum McNab, Deaken Fawcett, and Bonnie Rovere. This list isn’t exhaustive either. There have been so many success stories to come out of Loud @ the Library,” said Ms. Cullinan.

Ms. Cullinan further explained that one of the main aims of the event is to encourage young people to stand up and participate.

“It’s not about having to be perfect but using the opportunity to have a go."

Beyond the spotlight, performing on stage is a way to learn how to cope under pressure, build resilience, and above all, boost self-esteem,” added Ms. Cullinan.

Local singers, dancers, and musicians aged 12 to 25 are encouraged to register. Registrations close on Wednesday, 19 March.

Ms. Cullinan explained that this event challenges the traditional notion of libraries being quiet spaces. “We want our young people to see their local library as a vibrant and dynamic place where their creativity is celebrated and embraced.”

Everyone is welcome to attend Loud @ the Library. No bookings are required—just drop by at 7pm on Friday, 28 March, to enjoy the performances and free refreshments.
