New Library Outreach Vehicle on the way

A new Library Outreach Vehicle will be replacing the current Mobile Library, from Tuesday, 26 July 2022.

Libraries Manager, Camille Cullinan said smaller outlying communities can enjoy an expanded mobile library service, thanks to the new Outreach Vehicle.

“Our new van will allow us to offer more programs and activities on visits to rural communities, expand the home delivery service for older people and attend more community events.

“The van will replace a 17 year old vehicle, bringing improved library services to rural communities across 6,000 square kilometres, including Beverford, Boundary Bend, Lake Boga, Manangatang, Nyah, Tooleybuc, Ultima and Woorinen,” Ms Cullinan said.

Ms Cullinan said the new vehicle included a veranda that can be set up for outdoor events and activities.

“The new outreach vehicle is a free resource for people living in our municipality and includes a wheelchair lift, so it is accessible for everyone.

“Our new Library Outreach Operator Damien Murray, is looking forward to expanding the services that the program offers – including the addition of a new hot water service for some cuppa stopovers too,” she added.

The new vehicle is funded by the Victorian Governments Living Libraries Infrastructure Program and Swan Hill Rural City Council.
